Meet Our Newest Brothers
On his way to work in July of 2002 he was hit by another car and sustained severe injuries to his leg which forced him to retire from practice. At this time he is the house dad to his 15 year old son, and takes care of things at home while his wife of, 30 years, works. He graduated from CCNY, with a degree in Biology and received post graduate degrees from Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons, one in Histology and the other in Physical Therapy. Aside from practicing his profession he taught on a college level and has written a number of professional papers which have been published.
Marty is a Physical Therapist by profession and has worked in all types of facilities ranging from a New York State Mental Hospital, to a New York City hospital, plus nursing homes, homecare and private practice. He also was a Federal and State Investigator for the New York State Department of Health with the focus on nursing homes. After retiring from NYS service he worked again in private practice, servicing various rehabilitation facilities.
He enjoys a number of hobbies such as microscope
repair, binocular collecting and scuba diving. He is
also particularly interested in WWII naval engage-
ments and has quite a library of books on that subject.
As a matter of fact , each time he finds a new hobby
he begins to collect books. They now number in the
hundreds. For many years he collected clocks,
early battery clocks in particular. He published a
Journal every 2 months for 15 years which was sent to
others with similar interests in electrical horology
(the science of measuring time or constructing time-measuring instruments.) Because of his work in electrical horology the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors made him a Fellow of their organization when he was 32 years old and was the youngest Fellow ever at that time.
Marty says, “I enjoy helping others. This has been a lifetime endeavor of mine and continues today, I hope, now as a Pythian, to continue to be of service to others in any way that I can.”
Marty and his family reside in Spring Valley, N.Y.
